Asthma....time to pick up the pipe!

I research a lot about natural remedies & healing foods and I like to share some of what I find. Especially when it really really works!

So yeah, BIG topic Asthma, us poor sufferers are not offered a cure by practitioners our only option is a life dependency on a variety of inhalers to survive, mostly consisting of that nasty but oh so amazing steroid chemical!

I developed asthma when I was pregnant 8 years ago, one day I just suddenly couldn't breath properly and over a couple of days my breathing became more and more restricted until I ended up on a weeks course of steroids and a bag of inhalers, which unfortunately I've had to depend on over the past 8 years.

Cracking asthma has been a journey but this week I accidentally happened upon the Salt Pipe. I'd never heard of it or seen it before but instinct told me I should get it. So I did! I'm not usually impulsive but sometimes you have to go with what feels right :)
RESULT! This little Pipe has replaced my use of inhalers, I have gone from needing an inhaler 3 times a day to 0!
Salt pipe
I am so completely buzzing about this, although its only been a week I 100% know that it works for me. Whenever I feel my breathing getting tight I'll just use the Salt Pipe for about 20 mins and the tightness goes and I can breath again. I probably use it once in morning and then again in evening if necessary. Another cool thing is that its safe for children too, there are cute elephant shaped pipes called Elipipes for smalls, you cant over dose, its 100% natural and there are no bad side effects.

If you suffer with asthma or any other respiratory issues, allergies, sinus problems etc you just have to try it!

Cost? I bought mine for £30 which seems a lot, but it lasts for up to 5 years and you don't have to refill it, at that price its definitely worth 50p per month! There are loads of different types out there, I picked mine up from Beanfreaks a local health shop so I could start puffing straight away!

I'll update this post after I've been using it a while and if anyone else has got some good personal reviews it'd be great to hear :) Happy puffing!

Nuts for the NUT!

Low Self Esteem
Obsessive thoughts
Winter blues
Irritability / rage
Heat intolerance
Panic / phobias
Afternoon / evening cravings
Fibromyalgia, Night Owl
Insomnia / disturbed sleep
Suicidal thoughts

All the above symptoms can be the result of a deficiency in an Amino Acid called L-Tryptophan

If you can identify with a bunch of these symptoms then its most likely you are deficient in this Amino Acid.

L-Tryptophan = Melatonin = good sleep
L-Tryptophan = Serotonin = emotional stability / self confidence

By eating foods highest in L-Tryptophan on a regular basis you can help your brain become happier!

Seafood: shrimp / raw salmon / tuna / cod
Dairy: Cows milk / cheese / yogurt
Nuts & Seeds: Cashews / walnuts / pumpkin seeds / almonds / sunflower seeds
Legumes: beans / split peas / peanuts / lentils

This is my favourite snack, whenever I go hunting in my pantry for something to much on, out comes the ultimate snack of walnuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins, cranberries, goji berries, hazelnuts with a little pink himalayan salt.
Satisfies the belly and the brain..YUM!

Raw Journey 4 Dirty Day!

My Facebook posts have mostly been about our raw experiment, but this post is  dedicated to those of you who think we're being too hard on ourselves eating 100% raw! Once a week we have a feast day / free day / dirty day (whatever you wanna call it!) when we are free to eat whatever we fancy and please you can can get up off of your knees and cease from your petitioning, there really is no need to pray for us any more we truly are experience eaters and know exactly how to enjoy eating!!!

So last night our Frenchy friends asked us to come over and party, they spent 2 days cooking the most delicious food and we stuffed ourselves almost to over flowing on home made leek, honey and goats cheese quiche, smoked salmon, home made chocolate fudge brownie, home made profiteroles and muffins, red wine, proper coffee mmmm and it was just sooo delicious, we only stopped eating because we couldn't fit any more in! All of it being home made you get the magical ingredient that no restaurant or store bought food has and that is the taste of love! You truly can taste it!

The weekend before we feasted with some more lushie friends on homemade mutton, rice and peas, roast sweet potato and carrot, marinated chicken wings, gammon, pan fried chili samosa with fresh mango salsa and purple coleslaw, drank lots of rum and coke and topped it off with ice cream whilst sat in the sun catching up on the past five years & of course our tan!

So for those of you (ie. Reverand Uncle Ken ;)) who think we're becoming too erm religious about being healthy! Do not fear we are still enjoying sinful pleasures with extremely heathen friends! Lol
